Goals and Objectives
When we formed this organizaton back in 1973, our mission was to pass on information from one jail to another and to standardize the movement of prisoners around the state. Over the past 45 years our mission has become to provide education, training, and lobbying for better retirement and working conditions for our members.
In recent years jail budgets have caused agencies to make cutbacks. Training is always the first to go. The WSJA offers scholarships to members in a variety of areas, when their agencies budgets fall short. Training is imperative in keeping you safe, and is a priority objective for the WSJA.
Education is the key to improving working conditions in the Corrections field. We do that by providing communication, innovative ideas, information and best practice training to our leaders. This improves collaboration and stakeholder relationships for all County and City Corrections Facilities in Washinton State.
